Colour

This photo uses analogous colours. It mainly uses reds and yellows. In this photo, the tram brings the viewer's attention because it is bright yellow and the background is less saturated, which enhances the overall image. These certain colours make the photo look old and washed out.

This photo is using complementary colour. The saturated red background makes the frog stand out not only because the colours are opposite of each other, but also the frog is right in the middle of the image. The small amount of colours used in this photograph make it very intriguing.

This photograph presents colour isolation. It is a very effective technique because it makes the coloured object stand out and it draws the viewers attention to the piece that the photographer finds the most important.

My photos

This is a photo that I have taken of an Indian painting. It presents complementary colours on a black background, which makes the couple stand out. The very saturated colours pull the viewers eye. They give out the feeling of warmth (red) and calmness (green).

This photo uses analogous colours, which mainly green and yellow. The very light yellowish background makes the green parts stand out a lot more and they bring more attention. The fruit is placed around the whole photo making which then makes the viewer explore the whole image.

This photo shows colour isolation and I have decided that I will make the balloon the central focus. It draws the viewer's eye to the main object and it gives an eerie feel to the photo since it's a child and the rest is in black and white.

Harris Shutter Effect

Harris Shutter Effect

This is the Harris Shutter Effect that I have created in the lesson using images that my teacher has provided. It turned out to look good, therefore my next step is to create this using my own photos, which I am planning on doing.

Double Exposure

Here are some examples of double exposure effect created by other artists. I will be trying to create my own with photos of silhouettes that I will take.

Own images

These are the images where I have tried out double exposure. I took photos of silhouettes and then used photoshop to create a double exposure effect using another image, here using images from nature which creates interesting images and contrast.

Contact Sheet

Here are all of the images which I have taken for the double exposure photo shoot.

Artist copy 2 - May Xiong

May Xiong is a a 24 year old photographer. She is heavily inspired by light, music scores, and attention to detail. She creates photographs that present unusual beauty; brining forth her subjects delicately and intimately with the surrounding environment that sometimes may seem heavy or harsh. Her work has also been featured on many websites.

Own Photos

My final image turned out very well, it fits to the style of the artist with the colours of the background, skin and paint, but also with the drawn lines. I studied the artist's photos very carefully to achieve a very similar effect on my own image.

Artist Copy - Greta Tu

Greta is a 20 year old photographer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her greatest passion now is travel and portraiture photography. She won many awards and many of her photoraphs have been used for book covers.

This is the photo that I will be emulating by Greta Tu. She took the photo in black and white, possibly in a studio because the lighting does't look very natural, however the background suggests that it wasn't in a studio. The aperture was very low because the background is very blurred, and there is also blurriness on the neck.

My Copy

This is my emulation of the photograph by Greta Tu. What I could have improved on is the clothes and the lighting. I could have also used a model with freckles to make it even closer to the original image.

Drawing

Here I have done a sketch of the image that I will be emulating as my first piece during the course. It shows roughly what it looks like and what things I should remember about when taking the pictures.

Fashion/Portraits

The theme for my photography course will be fashion and portraits, and this is what I will be experimenting with and focusing on throughout the year.
